Cependant, contrairement aux syst\u00e8mes \u00e0 ultrasons encombrants, cette technologie peut \u00eatre implant\u00e9e directement dans le cerveau et ne n\u00e9cessite pas de chirurgie de suivi pour retirer l&rsquo;appareil plus tard, car il se d\u00e9grade en rien dans le cerveau au fil du temps.  L&rsquo;implant contient des cristaux de l&rsquo;acide amin\u00e9 glycine, qui s&rsquo;est av\u00e9r\u00e9 fortement pi\u00e9zo\u00e9lectrique, ce qui signifie qu&rsquo;il vibre lorsqu&rsquo;un courant \u00e9lectrique le traverse.  Les chercheurs ont combin\u00e9 cela avec des polym\u00e8res biod\u00e9gradables pour cr\u00e9er l&rsquo;implant \u00e0 ultrasons, que l&rsquo;on peut voir sur l&rsquo;image ci-dessus.<\/p>\n<p>La proc\u00e9dure habituelle lorsqu&rsquo;une tumeur au cerveau est identifi\u00e9e implique l&rsquo;ablation chirurgicale suivie d&rsquo;une chimioth\u00e9rapie pour \u00e9liminer toutes les cellules canc\u00e9reuses r\u00e9siduelles.  Cependant, l&rsquo;administration de la chimioth\u00e9rapie au cerveau est notoirement difficile, l&rsquo;endoth\u00e9lium sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9 tapissant les vaisseaux sanguins du cerveau, autrement connu sous le nom de barri\u00e8re h\u00e9mato-enc\u00e9phalique, emp\u00eachant l&rsquo;entr\u00e9e de nombreux m\u00e9dicaments de chimioth\u00e9rapie courants.<\/p>\n<p>Une m\u00e9thode pour franchir la barri\u00e8re h\u00e9mato-enc\u00e9phalique consiste \u00e0 utiliser des ultrasons pour cr\u00e9er des espaces transitoires dans la barri\u00e8re, permettant au m\u00e9dicament d&rsquo;entrer.  Cependant, cela a toujours \u00e9t\u00e9 assez lourd, avec la n\u00e9cessit\u00e9 de placer plusieurs appareils \u00e0 ultrasons puissants sur la t\u00eate et une dur\u00e9e de 5 \u00e0 6 heures pour la proc\u00e9dure.  Ces facteurs limitent consid\u00e9rablement la fr\u00e9quence \u00e0 laquelle ces patients peuvent b\u00e9n\u00e9ficier d&rsquo;une chimioth\u00e9rapie assist\u00e9e par ultrasons.  <!-- ASYNC UAT M - 300x250(t,r) - --><\/p>\n<p><!-- END ASYNC UAT M - 300x250(t,r) --><\/p>\n<p>Des \u00e9metteurs d&rsquo;ultrasons implantables ont \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9velopp\u00e9s, mais jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 pr\u00e9sent, ils ont \u00e9t\u00e9 fabriqu\u00e9s \u00e0 l&rsquo;aide de c\u00e9ramiques et n\u00e9cessitent une seconde intervention chirurgicale pour retirer l&rsquo;appareil plus tard.  Pour y rem\u00e9dier, ces chercheurs ont cr\u00e9\u00e9 un implant \u00e0 ultrasons totalement biod\u00e9gradable, mais qui conserve la m\u00eame puissance et efficacit\u00e9 que les dispositifs en c\u00e9ramique.  \u00ab\u00a0Nous pouvons \u00e9viter tout cela en utilisant un dispositif implant\u00e9\u00a0\u00bb dans le cerveau lui-m\u00eame \u00ab\u00a0, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 Thanh Nguyen, un chercheur impliqu\u00e9 dans l&rsquo;\u00e9tude.  \u00ab\u00a0Nous pouvons l&rsquo;utiliser \u00e0 plusieurs reprises, permettant \u00e0 la chimio de p\u00e9n\u00e9trer dans le cerveau et de tuer les cellules tumorales.\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n<p>Le nouvel appareil est fabriqu\u00e9 \u00e0 l&rsquo;aide de cristaux de glycine pi\u00e9zo\u00e9lectriques.  \u00c0 eux seuls, les cristaux se biod\u00e9graderaient trop rapidement et seraient beaucoup trop cassants. Les chercheurs les ont donc combin\u00e9s par un processus d&rsquo;\u00e9lectrofilage avec un polym\u00e8re biod\u00e9gradable appel\u00e9 polycaprolactone et un autre appel\u00e9 Poly-L-Lactide.
