La technologie pourrait s&rsquo;av\u00e9rer tr\u00e8s utile pour les chirurgiens du cerveau qui souhaitent cartographier les r\u00e9gions du cerveau susceptibles de d\u00e9clencher des crises d&rsquo;\u00e9pilepsie, puis cibler chirurgicalement ces l\u00e9sions.  La r\u00e9duction de la zone du cr\u00e2ne qui est enlev\u00e9e pendant la chirurgie aide \u00e0 acc\u00e9l\u00e9rer le r\u00e9tablissement du patient et \u00e0 r\u00e9duire le traumatisme associ\u00e9 \u00e0 de telles proc\u00e9dures. Cependant, concevoir un \u00e9quipement capable de passer \u00e0 travers un petit trou et de fonctionner efficacement de l&rsquo;autre c\u00f4t\u00e9 n\u00e9cessite une certaine ing\u00e9niosit\u00e9.  Les chercheurs \u00e0 l&rsquo;origine de cette derni\u00e8re technologie ont \u00e9t\u00e9 invit\u00e9s par un neurochirurgien \u00e0 concevoir une \u00e9lectrode corticale qui pourrait passer \u00e0 travers un petit trou dans le cr\u00e2ne, mais qui pourrait encore fournir des donn\u00e9es sur l&rsquo;activit\u00e9 \u00e9lectrique d&rsquo;une zone beaucoup plus vaste du cerveau.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab\u00a0Les neurotechnologies mini-invasives sont des approches essentielles pour proposer des th\u00e9rapies efficaces et adapt\u00e9es au patient\u00a0\u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 St\u00e9phanie Lacour, chercheuse impliqu\u00e9e dans l&rsquo;\u00e9tude.  \u00ab Nous devions concevoir un r\u00e9seau d&rsquo;\u00e9lectrodes miniaturis\u00e9 capable de se replier, de passer \u00e0 travers un petit trou dans le cr\u00e2ne, puis de se d\u00e9ployer sur une surface plane reposant sur le cortex.  Nous avons ensuite combin\u00e9 des concepts issus de la bio\u00e9lectronique douce et de la robotique douce.<!-- ASYNC UAT M - 300x250(t,r) - --><\/p>\n<p><!-- END ASYNC UAT M - 300x250(t,r) --><\/p>\n<p>Le trou \u00e0 travers lequel l&rsquo;\u00e9lectrode doit passer \u00e9tait d&rsquo;environ 2 cm de diam\u00e8tre, puis une fois \u00e0 l&rsquo;int\u00e9rieur du cr\u00e2ne, l&rsquo;\u00e9lectrode devait \u00eatre d\u00e9ployable dans l&rsquo;espace entre le cerveau et le cr\u00e2ne, une pression serr\u00e9e de 1 mm.  La conception r\u00e9sultante comprend six bras en spirale con\u00e7us pour maximiser le contact entre l&rsquo;\u00e9lectrode et le cerveau.  Le dispositif peut s&rsquo;\u00e9tirer jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 un diam\u00e8tre de 4 cm \u00e0 travers la surface du cerveau lorsqu&rsquo;il est compl\u00e8tement \u00e9tendu, et est d\u00e9livr\u00e9 \u00e0 travers un tube cylindrique dans un \u00e9tat pli\u00e9.   <\/p>\n<p>La technologie exploite \u00e9galement un m\u00e9canisme d&rsquo;actionnement d&rsquo;\u00e9version pour ouvrir doucement chaque bras sur la surface du cerveau, un \u00e0 la fois.  \u00ab\u00a0La beaut\u00e9 du m\u00e9canisme d&rsquo;\u00e9version est que nous pouvons d\u00e9ployer une taille arbitraire d&rsquo;\u00e9lectrode avec une compression constante et minimale sur le cerveau\u00a0\u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 Suhko Song, un autre chercheur impliqu\u00e9 dans l&rsquo;\u00e9tude.  \u00ab La communaut\u00e9 de la robotique douce s&rsquo;est beaucoup int\u00e9ress\u00e9e \u00e0 ce m\u00e9canisme d&rsquo;\u00e9version car il est bio-inspir\u00e9.
